Center Street At Risk
Welcome to our website.
The residents of Center Street are at risk of having their living condition seriously degraded due to a plan being advocated by the Town of Phillipsburg, the State of New Jersey, and a developer by the name of Peron Corporation. Specifically, the town is proposing to turn Center Street into a truck bypass route. Currently, Center Street has a 4 ton gross vehicle weight limit, and a local delivery only restriction on the street. If Center Street becomes a truck bypass route, as proposed, it could potentially have over a hundred 53 foot tractor trailers traveling on it every day.
We are seeking your help to protect our neighborhoods that extend the length of Center Street and the surrounding area. What you can do to help support us is:
- Sign our petition
- Send emails and letters to Town Council members, the Mayor, and other government representatives
- Become a member the Phillipsburg Environmental Watch's parent organization, the New Jersey Highlands Coalition. When you become a member, we will provide a free gift of a "NO TRUCKS ON CENTER STREET" sign so you can show your support for preserving the residential environment of Phillisburg, NJ. Information on how to donate can be found at the following link: https://njhighlandscoalition.org/individual-membership-join-renew-donate/
Some major issues discussed on this website are the following:
